Reading

5th Grade & 6th Grade: This week we will work hard to finish our three novels based on the events of WWII. All of the novels are helping us to understand what World War II was like for all those involved!

Math-
5th Grade: This week we will continue with fraction concepts. We will work on reviewing turning mixed numbers into fractions & improper fractions to mixed numbers. We will also learn how to compare and order fractions and mixed numbers.

6th Grade: This week we will continue our study of lines, points, planes, and many kinds of angles. The definitions of the angles will help us have a better understanding so review them daily!!!!

Social Studies- Last week we had lots of fun learning about WWII by rotating to different centers. We learned about how secret messages were sent during war time, we played battleship and read about different types of war ships, we used a battery and a flashlight bulb to make a homemade flashlight and then sent mores code messages. At another center we studied the different ranks and created an insignia patch for each group. We also looked at propaganda posters from the WWII era and made some of our own based upon patriotism and rationing. This week we will continue our studies of WWII. My dad is a collector of various military items and he is going to visit on Tuesday to share some items with us.

Science- This week we will continue to build on what we learned about weather. We are making a weather booklet to hold all of our important information. This week we will study water vapor, humidity, and clouds and precipitation.

Religion- This week we will review how to pray the Rosary. We will also continue with Chapter 13 in our religion book. As the year comes to an end we will be making a push to touch on as much information as possible. I will be dividing the students into groups and having them read individual chapters and then report back to the class.

Yours in Catholic Education- Mrs. Lynn
