THE WEEK OF MARCH 2-6, 2009

Dear Parents,

The next two weeks will be busy as we take the Iowa Basic Skill test.  I administered a practice booklet last week, which is in your child’s folder today.  It just gives you an idea of the kind of work that you child will be doing.  We spend about 45minutes twice a day on the test.  Hopefully the results will be back to us by the end of the school year.  The results are only a tool to help us track your child’s progress and many things can affect the outcome.  I do stress to the children that the test is very important and they need to work their very best.

Today is Dr. Seuss’s birthday so it will be a Dr. Seuss week in our classroom this week.  I have a large assortment of Dr. Seuss books and the children will be choosing one for a book report.

We are also beginning our chapter on weather in Science.  March is a good month for this with all of the changes.  We did decide that March came in like a lion, although it could have been much worse!

That’s about it for this week.  Hope everyone has a good week.  It’s March, Spring can’t be too far off.
